BODY SENSE ~ ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

"THINKING IN ACTIVITY"

WHAT IS IT?
An Alexander Technique practitioner-teacher is a professional trained in scientific, gentle, hands-on guidance in the restoration of the body's natural coordination and movement patterns.
Emotional and physical strain accumulated through life become fixed in the body as tension, effort, distortion - which manifests as common problems such as anxiety, stress, stiffness, sagging, pain, back/ neck/ shoulder/ breathing problems etc.
We experience the interrelationship of thinking, feeling and body through attending to the way we 'Use' ourselves in daily life - how we 'do what we do' in all our chosen activities - from the way we sit, stand, bend, walk, to singing, playing an instrument, riding, running, sweeping the floor etc. Re-learning how to move and carry ourselves the way we were designed, the body starts unravelling unnecessary effort and tension. This allows us to move toward the strength and flexibility that is our birthright: A state of relaxedness, vitality and dynamic Poise.
As we refine simple movement patterns in the basic actions of daily life, the body returns to its natural Ease and Strength. Awareness and Elegance suffuse body, mind and emotions.
